Happy Mothers day to all the mums out there 🙂
Here are a few of my Mothers day cards for donation to a group called Combat Cards. They are then passed onto servicing overseas soldiers and peace keepers to send back here to Australia to their mums.
I started sending cards out to overseas soldiers for the Christmas of 2011. There are various groups over the years that I’ve passed these onto. The RSL, Stockings for Soldiers, Combat cards are a few.
It also includes birthday cards, Dads day cards, general cards and of course, cards to send home for their kids. There are rules to follow and of course weight is an issue, I have to watch how much goes on the front of a card.
In a way it’s funny these cards are made in Australia, go to Canberra or Melbourne and then somewhere overseas to be sent all the way back to Australia! They have covered a lot of kilometres and are much better travelled than I.
It’s just a card and they make people happy, so why not?

Such a nice thing to do. I’m sure the people receiving them really appreciate it. I was reading yesterday, that Mother’s day started 100 years ago & that cards/messages were the original concept of it. In fact the person who lobbied so hard for it, tried to get it stopped when it became too commercialised.
