I was looking through the sachets of casserole bases at my grocery store and they all wanted me to add a can of tomatoes, tomato paste or tomato sauce so I figured if I have tinned tomatoes at home and it’s only a matter of herbs etc, I would have a go at making my own and it’d be much cheaper.
This is the tomato crockpot/casserole base or gravy that I came up with. All the ingredients are always in my pantry so I don’t have to not have it because I’m missing a sachet. Of course it’s nothing fantastic or way out there but it is a place to start to make this recipe your own.
