Puff pastry toppers

Puff pastry toppers are easy to do and can be used for savoury or sweet foods.

Pastry toppers are just ready rolled frozen puff pastry cut with scone/biscuit/cookie cutters to the shape you wish.

Pop on a lined baking tray and brush with milk or beaten egg. Put into a preheated 220*C heated oven and let cook and puff until golden brown, about 10 -15 minutes. If they rise too high for your desired meal just carefully flatten a little.

For savoury I sprinkle with sesame seeds, poppy seeds or herbs before going into the oven.

Serve savoury mince and top with pastry round, for a faux pie.

Pop on top of beef or chicken casserole.

Pop on top of stewed fruit and dust with icing sugar.

Serve as a couple and pop ice cream and fruit in the middle, drizzle top with chocolate sauce.

Carefully slice a pocket from the side and fill with custard or fruit.

Nice just turned upside down and spread with chocolate nut spread.

Cut in shapes for the kids and top with banana and ice cream instead of a pancake.

The options are endless just use your imagination.

These in picture were served with cinnamon apple. Large on bottom, apple in the middle, small on top and ice cream on the side. Dusted with a little icing sugar.
