For chicken or pork
- 1/3 cup Honey
- 1/4 cup Tomato sauce
- 2 teaspoons Soy sauce
- 1 clove Garlic - crushed
- 1/2 tablespoon Chinese five spice powder
- Mix all ingredients together and pour over chicken (I use drumsticks, thighs or wings) coat well and marinade in the fridge for 4 hours or longer.
- Bake in a 180*C oven for 20 minutes. Turn down oven to 160*C for another 30-40 minutes or until cooked and juices run clear.
- Take note this is honey a sugar and if you are not careful it will burn so keep an eye on it and keep turning.
If you wish to make this a bit more of a honey soy marinade add more soy sauce to taste. All ingredients are easy to adjust to taste. I also use pork belly rind on, US styled ribs or a pork fillet, these take longer so check your times. When I cook with the pork belly or ribs (bone in) I tend to to these in an oven bag and open bag for last 20 mins.
