Frozen fruit

I don’t know about anywhere else in the world but at the moment we here in Australia are having health problems with imported berries.  Just recently Hepatitis A (which is not common over here) has made itself known through these imported berries.

This is one of the good things of keeping track of where your foods come from and to buy locally and seasonally when possible and freezing your own.

I am so glad now that that I’ve been freezing my own strawberries, blueberries, mangoes, grapes, lemon and lime juice cubes and some times oranges.  In summer frozen grapes and oranges are wonderful for cooling you down when eaten frozen.

Wash and dry your berries well before  freezing.

Mangoes, cut off the cheeks, scoop out the flesh or peel back like a banana and freeze.

Grapes, wash and dry well.

Lemon, lime and oranges you can juice and freeze juice in cubes or wash and cut fruit into quarters and freeze with skin on.
