Christmas, how soon is to soon?

I’m glad I don’t have young kids anymore because  even years ago when the Christmas items came into the shops in late October it was hard to keep the littlies from asking, is Christmas far away, my answer yes, yes it is.

For the last 3 weeks Christmas food has been making its way into the grocery stores and this week Christmas decorations and other items are in the stores. It is hard the to explain to the little ones it’s still months away.

Our outside house lights go on 1st of December and  decorations and tree go up the  weekend closest to the 1st of December.

Fathers day was 2nd September and 1st October the Queens Birthday public holiday (I’m not entirely sure when her actual birthday is and not that we really do much it’s just a public holiday) there is no other public holiday or occasion until Christmas, maybe that’s why the shops are putting stuff out to make the extra dollars.

How soon is to soon?

I think by putting Xmas things out too soon , the novelty is taken away. By the time it actually comes around, you’re over it (especially the carols). Our Xmas tree goes up the week before & comes down just after the new year.

  1. Yes our tree comes down sometime between Christmas and new year and our outside lights go off on the 1st January so they are up for new years eve/night. Then hubbys gets to take it all down and wait another 11 months to light them up again!
