ANZAC Biscuits

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups Rolled oats
  • 1 cup Self raising flour
  • 1 cup Dessicated coconut
  • 3/4 cup Raw sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Bi carbonate of soda
  • 3 tablespoons Boiling water
  • 125 grams Butter or margerine
  • 3 tablespoons Golden syrup

Instructions
 

  • Mix all dry ingredients together
  • Melt butter and golden syrup together. This can be done in the microwave if you wish.
  • Dissolve bi carbonate soda in boiling water then add the mix to the butter and syrup. It will froth.
  • Add the frothy mix to your dry ingredients and stir well.
  • On a lined baking tray place balls of mixture and flatten with a fork. If it's a bit tacky drop on teaspoons full and shape into rounds. They will spread.
  • Place in a preheated 160-170*C oven for approx 10-12 minutes until cooked and golden.
  • Cool on a cooling rack. Store in an air tight container.

Above is the ANZAC biscuit once you add any of the below ingredients it's no longer the true recipe.
Add chopped nuts.
Add sultanas, currants or raisins.
Add sesame or sunflower seeds or both.
This can be made in a slice tray and cut into squares.
They can be drizzled in chocolate.
Try mixing with a teaspoon of ground ginger.
Sesame seeds and chopped almonds.
Recipe calls for golden syrup can other syrups or honey be used, probably, but not something I've tried.
Yes they can be frozen in a sealed container.
