Chicken Salt

Many many years ago I used to buy chicken salt (Mitani), it’s in the seasonings section with the herbs etc in the grocery store. I have not for a long time as I never used all of the container.

I love chicken salt on my hot chips (fries) when I buy them from the fish and chip or burger shop. I don’t deep fry food so when I have hot chips I go all out and enjoy them properly done in the big deep fryer at a shop.

Chicken salt is easy to make and can be used on more than hot deep fried chips. Try baked potatoes, a little on chicken or what you’d normally have salt on and want a little extra flavour. Use before or after cooking.

I don’t tend to make a lot at once as it’s one of those things that left too long in the pantry can go clumpy.

How I make my chicken salt …

1 tablespoon of powdered chicken stock (Massel, Maggi, Continental etc)

1 tablespoon of table salt or you can grind it if you wish.

1 teaspoon of dried parsley.

1/2 teaspoon or to taste of garlic powder.

Mix and store in an air tight container.

Of course you can up the anti and add …

Onion powder, chilli flakes, other herbs and make it just how you like, there really are no rules to this seasoning.

My family all complain because I don’t like it on my hot chips, so it doesn’t get put on, as I order them 🙂
